There are few cities in the world that are encompassed by such remarkable natural beauty as Pokhra. Located some 200km west of Kathmandu, Pokhara is situated at an altitude of 827m from the sea level and directly under the Annapurna mountain range. This scenic little city has been popular among western travellers since the 1970s, when the hippies made their way from the free land of Kathmandu to the relatively peaceful Pokhara.

Day by Day Itinerary

1. Boating on Fewa Lake

The second largest lake in Pokhara, tourists are drawn to the calm waters and the colourful wooden boats that fringe the lake. In the morning, we will take a boating tour around Fewa Lake and visit the Barahi temple, one of the most important Hindu monuments in the area, in the middle of the lake.

2. Devi’s Falls

Devi’s Falls is a fascinating waterfall located 2km south of Pokhara Airport. The name came from a foreigner named David who had accidently fallen into an underground passage beneath while he was enjoying swimming in Phardi Khola. The waterfall looks stunning especially during the Monsoon season and is a centre of attraction to many tourists visiting Pokhara.

3. Gupteshwor Mahadev Cave

There are many caves around Pokhara, the most popular of which is the the Gupteshwor Cave. The cave is said to be discovered in the 16th century by local men. Upon exploring, they found many statues dedicated to Shiva and other Hindu deities. Today, this cave has drawn many tourists who are intrigued by the limestone patterns and the colours on the cave walls.

4. Peace Pagoda

Perched at 1100m on top of the Ananda Hill south of Fewa Lake lies the World Peace Pagoda, a large Buddhist stupa that commands tremendous views of the Himalayas, the lake and Pokhara cityscape. This structure was built by the Japanese Buddhists and opened in 1999
